- Positive response to my collage work - liked the use of texture and shape.
- Thought that the monotone palette well reflected the tone of my subject.
Things to consider:
- Using words within my book?
- Could all of the 6 individual narratives merge together to create a new story?
- Experiment with sizing and working on a larger scale to make working with shapes easier.
Thoughts on the crit
- Im really happy that I got a positive response to the collage work as I am really enjoying making this and would like to continue experimenting with patterns and textures, as well as shape to create images.
- After this crit I feel a bit confused or deflated as to my narrative. It got me thinking that without words or some kind of differentiation these six myths will just look random and completely unidentifiable as these specific stories.
- Before I really wanted to create this ambiguous collection of images on the same theme - alike to Eleni's zines - but now I feel I may be too invested in these individual stories to do that...
- I know that I do not want to merge all these images into one narrative. I definitely want to tell these individual stories and plus I really can not begin to imagine how that would work. So...maybe I should consider using words? A short quote, poem maybe?
Plan of action
- Continue experimenting with collaging textures and patterns.
- Start creating more detailed collages by working on a larger scale.
- Scan in this work into photoshop and see how you can touch it up, but still maintain this handmade feel...
- Rethink your narrative, look at adding words or simplifying the number of stories your telling.
- Start forming a more coherent and definitive storyboard - along with rough images, so you know exactly what your making over the next week.
