Illustrator Workshop 1

I found the illustrator workshop really useful. I have made art work using vectors before but have never been actually taught how to properly use tools. I feel like I now have a basic understanding, and could easily make a shape based image.

Tools to remember:
  • Alt - to move anchor points
  • Shift - to get straight lines, and 45' angles.
  • Press and hold down to get curved lines - drag anchors the direction you want the curve to go up.
  • Symmetrical objects - make one side, copy > paste in place, object > reflect, and drag.

To trace objects drag onto illustrator, adjust opacity, and then create another layer to work on (same as photoshop really).

Fill and adjusting strokes - you can change the stroke and fill of shape. You can change the shape and thickness of a stroke as well to get different values of line.

Use layers to group shapes together and arrange which ones are in front or behind...
