Animal ink drawings

I started doing some drawings in ink related to the 'urban animals' - looking at baboons, bears, boar and foxes.

What I think is good:
  • In consideration of the fact that these images need to be vectors I have tried to identify big shapes. I think ink as a medium has worked really well for this and has created some nice drawings - the two tones also helps to bring a sense of depth and make it less blocky.
What I need to work on:
  • All of the drawings have been done from reference material, once I have an understanding of the animals maybe I should move away from this and make them more stylized.
  • I need to start thinking of how to place these animals into a urban environment - and communicate their presence within these particular cities. Look at the cities as well as the animals...and the relationship between the two! (the baboons are a good start)
  • Need to simplify the animals and the shapes down even more. The hairs will take ages to draw! Need to find a way to show this texture without having to do loads of individual strokes.
